ROSE INFORMATION – TYPES OF ROSES
HYBRID TEAS
- The most popular of all the rose types
- They have a single flower at the end of a long stem
- Flowers bloom continuously and appear in flushes
- Plants can be 2-6′ tall
- Most are fragrant
FLORIBUNDAS
- They have an abundance of large clusters of smaller flowers on short stems
- Blooms appear in flushes throughout the summer and into fall
- They are a cross between a Hybrid Tea & a Dwarf Polyantha
- Newer varieties have larger flower size and stronger fragrance
- They are low growing plants and are hardy and disease resistant
GRANDIFLORAS
- Plants are usually taller than Hybrid Teas, 6′ tall plus
- Flowers resemble Hybrid Teas and may be borne singly or in clusters
- Blooms are usually larger than Floribundas, but smaller than Hybrid Teas
CLIMBERS
- Climbers have long canes that must be tied to a support, such as a trellis
- Plants can be 6-20′ tall
- They may be ever-blooming or bloom only once
MINIATURES
- They are small bushes with dainty, double or semi-double flowers with little or no fragrance
- Bushes are approximately 12-15″ high, sometimes smaller, and are almost thornless
OSO EASY™ SERIES
- They are easy to grow and extremely disease resistant
- They grow 12-24″ high and wide with glossy green foliage
- Hardy to -29 degrees Celsius
- Blooms early summer to frost
- Prefers full sun and does best in moist, well drained, loose soil
KNOCK OUT™ SERIES
- They are easy to grow and don’t require much maintenance
- Reliably disease resistant
- The compact shrub is very floriferous and can grow 3-4′ tall and wide, if not pruned
- It can be maintained smaller when pruned
- Drought tolerant
- Blooms in the spring until the last hard frost
